What a great book. I just finished reading “Climbing Through Storms” by Jeff Evans and if you haven't read this great book yet, I recommend you do.I've known Jeff for about six years, working to support veterans with disabilities as they climbed through their own storms. Now, I'm learning the back story and what made Jeff an invaluable member of our No Barriers team and a great friend and mentor to me.From practicing medicine in northern Iraq, to guiding on Mount Everest, Jeff’s story flows from the pages and captivates the reader. As he imparts the lessons he learned over the years, as a leader in a volatile world. The images formed from his travels around the world, paint a picture of a leader who thrives in the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environment. Jeff defly imparts his knowledge to the reader in a way that captivates and entertains.Like me, most people have not spent their lives in the backcountry dedicated to guiding others up mountains. But Jeff relates the challenges he faced, to our own everyday lives and then guides us in facing the challenges we all experience. Throughout, Jeff describes the environment, how it impacts us, and gives sage advice and strategies for navigating our VUCA world. As our world becomes more and more challenging, Climbing Through Storms is a great start to successfully navigating the complexity.
